What is The Journey?
The Journey is a way for kids and their families to learn about the feelings of grief and to talk about those feelings at home while working on their own computer. It is a convenient way to do grief work using familiar technology and animation. It has low-key, gentle activities that gets kid thinking and talking about their deep feelings in a healthy way. Our hope is that it will then help parents and other family members to understand their children’s grief journey.

Kids move a character around the site, finding lots of things to do. All these things to do were created using Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s way of helping grieving kids, Dr. Wolfelt is a registered psychologist who is known and respected around the world for his work with grieving kids and families.

Why use The Journey?
It’s not easy to know what to do when you and your child are grieving the death of someone so important in your lives. It’s harder yet when parents are grieving but still need to help their children. Kids are used to computer games and websites so The Journey World is a good way for them to get support and to help you learn about what your child needs.

Transportation, work schedules, or child care for other kids may make it hard to get to support groups or other support programs. Families also tell us that it’s hard to find kids’ grief support in their community. Even if there is something in your community, it might be easier to get what you need from your own home.
