Welcome to The Journey World
Helping your grieving child and helping you support the grief

Suddenly, with the cameras still humming, Morrie adjusted the glasses. He stopped, bit his lip, and began to choke up. Tears fell down his nose. “I lost my mother when I was a child…and it was quite a blow to me…I wish I’d had a group like yours where I would have been able to talk about my sorrows. I would have joined your group because…”
His voice cracked, “…because I was so lonely…”
‘Morrie,” Koppel said, “that was seventy years ago your mother died. The pain still goes on?”
“You bet.” Morrie whispered.

This quote is from the book, Tuesdays with Morrie: an old man, a young man and life’s greatest lesson, by Mitch Ablom.1 After 70 years, Morrie is still overcome by grief when he thinks about what his mother’s death means to him. Today, kids who don’t have a way to get grief support may endure the same pain and regret.

The Journey World is a way for kids and their families to learn about the feelings of grief and to talk about those feelings. It was created by Griefworks BC to help people find support after they have had a loss through death.

Your child will move a character around like they do in video games, exploring the site and finding lots of things to do. The journey is not about winning or losing and there is no violent content. The activities were created using Dr. Alan Wolfelt’s way of helping grieving kids.2
