Alyssa A Bartraw (Lyssie-Lou)
In May, 2006, my daughter, Alyssa, was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia at the age of 5. Within days, Alyssa had started an agressive treatment of Chemotherapy and the Alberta Children's Hospital become her home for 7 straight months. Alyssa went into remission in December 2006, when she was finally released from the hospital and was able to return home at last. For 6 short months, we enjoyed every minute of being home and tried to resume life as normal as possible. In June 2007, we received more devastating news...Alyssa had relapsed. We again moved back to the ACH where Alyssa began to prepare for a bone marrow transplant. On October 11, 2007 Alyssa lost her fight with leukemia due to complications resulting from radiation therapy. During those 18 months, Alyssa taught me and everyone who ever knew her about strength, courage, hope, love and living. She is my inspiration to move forward everyday.
I am so proud to be your mommy, Lyssie-Louxoxoxo
